Physio Answers Lewisham

With access to the comprehensive gym facilities your treatment program may include exercises that will be done with the therapist during your session using weights, machines, Swiss balls etc. Gait analysis enables us to examine your running technique to prevent and manage overuse and biomechanical problems.
Your exercise programme can then be highly specialised to maximize your recovery and performance.

Jay Butts –
BSc with Major in Sports Medicine Doctorate in Physical Therapy

Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training • Missouri State University

Jay grew up in Hungary as an American before moving to the United States for University. Always involved in sport, especially football he began his Physiotherapy career and qualified with a major in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine which is similar to a Sports Therapist degree. He realized he wanted to increase his depth of knowledge and understanding of pain and injury in the human body so took his studies further and earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

He started work in the U.S as a private physio gaining invaluable experience treating a wide range of conditions in patients ranging from ‘paediatric to geriatric!’
This included post-operative rehab, shoulder injuries and back problems

Jay’s interest and passion has always been in the field of football. He himself competed in European club football and NCAA Division I football (soccer) in the United States and it was natural for him to begin to work in the field of sports injury and rehabilitation.

He has worked as an athletic trainer/physio with high school and college aged American football and football (soccer) players and with the Missouri State University Men’s Soccer and American Football players dealing with both acute injuries on the field and also in the post-operative rehabilitation of players following knee and shoulder surgery.
He was also responsible for the athletes in their training and match preparation to reduce their risk of injury and enhance their sporting performance.

Jay’s football experience even extends to refereeing. He is a FIFA certified football referee.

Jay as sees his role in Physiotherapy as helping and treating anyone who is physically active to get them back to pain-free recreational and competitive sports whatever level they are working as.

He has certifications in athletic movement assessment and enjoys researching the most up-to-date treatment methods for the best results possible.

Jay recently moved to London with his wife eager for an adventure and to be closer to family and friends in Hungary. He is fluent in Hungarian, enjoys football (soccer) as you would expect! And travelling the world with his wife .
