WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY?
Physiotherapy is the treatment of pain or injury in any part of the body utilising a variety of techniques. These may include "hands on" treatments, acupuncture, electrotherapy and exercises. It also examines the possible causes of the problem and ways of managing it or preventing it from reoccurring in the future.

Your initial appointment is for one hour which includes a comprehensive assessment and initial treatment of your condition.

Initially you will be asked a variety of questions regarding your symptoms. For example, when and how they started and what makes them better or worse. You will also be asked about your work, lifestyle and general health.

The physiotherapist will then examine you. This may include areas that are not painful but may be contributing to the problem. It is therefore a good idea to bring some clothes that allow you to be examined and treated easily.

We will then discuss your diagnosis and the best way to treat it.
If the problem is not appropriate for physiotherapy or if further investigations are necessary then we will advise you accordingly and refer you on as appropriate.
